School - Special Tutorial Session
The Special Tutorial Session (School) in solid state physics will take place just before the Conference, during the weekend of 16th - 17th of June, 2018. There will be six lectures during the school given by outstanding scientists and addressed to undergraduate, PhD students, and young researchers. The aim is to expose young people to new ideas and concepts from the frontier of semiconductor physics, and provide an opportunity to interact with renowned scientists, leaders of their field of study. A relaxed schedule, friendly atmosphere, and comfortable venue will provide time, space, and ambience to discuss the lectures and semiconductor physics in general.
Invited speakers:
- Jelena Klinovaja, University of Basel, Switzerland
Topological states in low-dimensional systems - Jason Petta, Princeton University, USA
Semiconductor Spin Qubits - Charlotte Sanders, Aarhus University, Denmark
Spin and Valley Control in Transition Metal Dichalcogenides - Roland Wiesendanger, University of Hamburg, Germany
From Skyrmions to Majoranas: the impact of atomic-resolution spin-resolved microscopy and spectroscopy - Jöerg Wunderlich, Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory, University of Cambridge, UK
Spin-Orbit Coupling effects in Antiferromagnets: From the spin Hall effect to electrical writing and reading of reversed antiferromagnetic states - Huili Grace Xing, Cornell University, USA
2D crystal semiconductors: electron transport and device applications
